This piece is a storefront installation that investigates the historical record of Hernando Desoto’s meeting of the Native American Queen of Cofitechequi. This meeting took place some time in MAY, 1540 near the current location of Camden, SC. I am interested in patterns: those that occur in interiors, ones from nature, and those that exist through historical actions or thoughts. I have created a new paradigm by combining historical patterns with those from nature; therefore representing the two forces meeting. History often creates altered accounts of reality and in turn I create visual alternatives.
