The project investigates how even the smallest gestures in the body can have a significant impact on an interactive audio visual system, and questions the nature of stillness. Based off of Steve Paxton’s “Small Dance,” the work exposes the body’s constant effort to keep us remaining in a vertical position while standing.

In 2014, Julie Akerly and Matthew Mosher co-founded [nueBOX], a residency program for performance and installation artists in Phoenix, Arizona.
