The monument circle serves as the temporary of Janus, the god of beginnings. Acting as janitor and flamen––alongside public participation––Brian Priest collects and documents found artifacts and traces of transition to be combined into a new digital online temple of Janus.

Born in 1978, Priest received his BFA from Herron School of Art and Design in 2004 and a MFA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2007. He recently completely a two year position as Visiting Lecturer at California Polytechnic State University where he instructed sculpture, intermedia, and art theory. Currently he is the owner of Kurb Design, a fabrication and design studio. Additional professional activities have included operating the Biscuits and Gravy Gallery in Indianapolis and working in various set design and fabrication shops. Exhibitions include the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and White Flag Project Space. In 2008, Priest was a recipient of the Efroymnson Contemporary Art Fellowship.
