Phantom Home is an installation exploring home building within liminal spaces. With this first iteration, featuring a video projection called “Tinikling in the Tune of an Empty Room”, Anna Cruz looks at her own experience as a Filipino immigrant living in America. Using objects of personal research and found images that generate memories from home, she attempts to create a space that strikes a balance between freedom and longing. The entrance of the installation will include an interactive bamboo sculpture recreated from a traditional Filipino dancing tool (tinikling) that creates a percussive sound with the audience’s participation.
