Empathy for the Figure is a one-on-one encounter that fills the distance between a performer and an audience member. Each performance is a unique 10-minute treatment in which the artist responds intuitively to the audience member’s presence, offering a sensorial composition of attention, texture, sound, image, and relation. The work intentionally blurs the lines between performance and service, and audience and client, in an effort to generate a liminal act of art in which the viewer’s perception and sensation becomes the ephemeral artifact.
