The installation is composed of “flags,” hung at eye level on string between trees. Using different shades of the color blue, the artist creates an atmosphere of contemplation and reflection of human life. Inspired by Pushkin’s poem, “Remembrance,” the work reflects on love and loss, and is a personal attempt to express grief and fill emptiness after the death of his partner 17 years ago. The flags and text from the poem create a quiet and introspective mood scattered about the grounds of one of Liteiny’s hidden courtyards. The installation is dedicated to the memory of Pyotr Tchaikovsky who was also influenced by Pushkin’s writings.
