The theatre troupe models the reality and unreality of urban environments by exploring clichés and stereotypical perceptions of St. Petersburg. Entering the courtyard, viewers first meet typical local characters and listen to their actual stories, eventually becoming immersed in the phantasmagoria of the city. The combination of various textures, sounds, and images stimulate the formulation of a model of St. Petersburg in the spectator’s imagination. The Semiotic Model of St. Petersburg combines contemporary, documentary and physical theatre techniques with live music.
