Emerging in 2007 as an idea, the Soap Group (Semyon Motolyanetand Dmitrii Petukhov) performed for the first time in 2008 and were awarded the “New Generation Award” at the Innovation Awards in Moscow in 2009. The group works primarily with ordinary blocks of household soap, 72% or 65% in strength. The Soap Group boils soap, skates on soap, eats, bites and throws soap, purchases and throws out soap. Well-known throughout Russia for their work, the Soap Group has created urban monuments, memorial plaques, small architectural structures, interior decorations, and cleaned the inside of galleries and other spaces.
