Call for Team Members

Art in Odd Places seeks energetic self-starters to join our team for AiOP 2019: INVISIBLE. AiOP 2019 is curated by LuLu LoLo presenting projects by artists who are sixty years old and older, and various forms of inter-generational collaborations, along 14th Street, NY on October 17-20, 2019.

These are volunteer positions, as all staff for Art in Odd Places are volunteer. Candidates must be willing to work remotely from their own computers and occasionally be available for meetings. All team members also support the actual festival in October.

WEBSITE DESIGNER

Seeking an innovative self-driven designer/developer to work with the AiOP director, annual curatorial team and staff to maintain the main site, create festival sites, and provide print/web collaterals as needed. This is an unpaid position. AiOP is a grassroots organization with no office, so candidate must be prepared to work remotely.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Designing/Editing layouts for all websites
– Designing presentations, advertisements, and any other brand materials needed
– Creating and editing graphic elements, as necessary, or updating/converting graphic elements into correct formats
– Staying up to date on all web related design and development trends

Qualifications:
– Ability to work with the team to receive and supply feedback collaboratively
– Excellent typography and layout skills
– Excellent knowledge of html, css, and javascript/jquery required
– Knowledge of developing themes in the WordPress framework (requires thorough knowledge of PHP)
– Have flexibility and the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team
– Motivated and creative with an interest in the arts

PRESS COORDINATOR

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Oversee our media database
– Develop a pr/marketing strategy
– Work with our ongoing social media coordinator to further AiOP branding with the NYC arts community

Qualifications:
– Excellent writing and communication skills
– Knowledge of arts publications – personal contacts a plus
– Have flexibility and the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team
– Manage multiple projects and prioritize based on direction from the team

DIGITAL CONTENT EDITOR

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
– Create daily posts on all social platforms
– Research relevant stories, exhibitions, opportunities, and artists to share on an ongoing basis
– Create social media strategy and timeline
– Explore and write on art-related topics of their choice

Qualifications:
– Experience with using a variety of social media platforms beyond personal use
– Excellent writing and communication skills
– Familiarity with best practices for social media marketing
– Must be available during the festival weekend
– Have flexibility and the initiative to work both independently and as part of a team
